Small Town Band, Big Time Performance

First off I will start by saying that Mother Nature was out to get us this weekend as we initially had the plan of enjoying a wonderful day out in the wilderness, but as sometimes may happen plans were cancelled. Primarily our Saturday was meant to be spent on a Kayaking trip with friends, but unfortunately had to be postponed due to potential thunderstorms as well as high wind speeds. Which means that this particular story will have to wait for another time...

Which brings us to our much enjoyed Saturday night where we found ourselves once again out of the city of Ottawa and in Stittsville where we enjoyed out time at the Barley Mow. What brought us there was a band by the name of The Working Class and what made us stay... well that is simple, it was the shots, the drinks the food and the amazing company (both servers as well as friends). The hospitality as well as quality of food was an experience worth sharing as neither were lacking in the least. They made us feel comfortable and were quick to make sure that everyone was getting exactly what they needed.

The highlight of the trip out to Stittsville believe it or not was not the drinks (as shocking as that may be to some of you). Danica's plus one had never found himself out with our group before, but decided that on this night he would like to have the chance to see what she did on her spare. Having him there was a treat on its own, but there was one moment that made the whole experience for him as well as us worth while. Now, something that people may not realize is that each individual of our little group here has something amazing to offer each and every night we get together. On this particular night Michelle was the giver of all that is good. In no way is this girl lacking in thoughtfulness. She always wonders what she can do to make everyone happy. In this instance she made Danica's plus one glow as bright as the stars in the sky. From what I have noticed it is not hard to make him smile, but something that must be mentioned is that this particular individual is a HUGE fan of Johnny Cash.

Michelle as per usual was lucky enough to know the band that was playing and was able to get them to play one of Johnny's songs. The reaction was priceless... as the song slowly began to play I looked over and there he was patting Danica's arm, smiling from ear to ear as he grabbed his phone to record what was playing on that stage. The saying "it was like Christmas morning" is an under statement to what was happening at that exact moment. Even if the night was a total bust, that moment made it all worth while!

Oh, but the night wasn't a bust at all. We sat, we drank... and drank... and drank... and you guessed it, had many shots. With the amazingly talented band playing in the background and the amazing people surrounding us we couldn't help but have fun.

The night ended with Michelle and myself as well as a few of her friends sitting in the pub with no one else around, since a night out isn't officially awesome unless you are the last remaining people in the bar.

The music came to a close, they turned on the lights and they very politely made it clear that our night was slowly but surely approaching the finish line... at least for some of us. We bid farewell to our new server/bartender friend... AND of course Michelle invited them all out to our next get together, because a night isn't a night without making new friends. As we waited outside final decisions were debated, questions were brought forth (which are usually answered with a nod of the head, a unsure smile, and a slight stumble away from the restaurant)

and goodbyes were said leaving us only with the thoughts of what is next to come (or for some of us how many more beers could be consumed before going to bed).
